The North-West Region is moving closer to a sustainable and inclusive future following a high-level workshop on Friday, September 5, 2025, aimed at pre-validating the draft of the Regional Territorial Planning and Sustainable Development Plan.
Held at the MINEPAT Hall in Up Station, Bamenda, the session brought together key stakeholders to refine and provide final inputs to a landmark document that will shape the region’s development priorities for years to come.
Representing the President of the North-West Regional Assembly, Prof. Fru Angwafo III, the Secretary General, Peter Yerimah Giyoh, stressed the importance of aligning major regional projects—including the Peace and Development Initiative (PDI), the proposed dry port project, and the customs warehouse—with a broader territorial framework.
“A credible plan must capture both our aspirations and our realities,” he said, emphasizing that the strategy should address urban expansion while ensuring that enclaved and underserved communities are not left behind.
Strong Representation from the Regional Assembly
The Regional Assembly delegation included HRH Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih, Vice President of the North-West Regional Executive Council; HRH Fon Azefor III of Nkwen; Dr. Yaa Sakah Fondufe Lydia, Commissioner for Health and Social Development; and several senior staff members. Their active participation highlighted the Assembly’s collective commitment to shaping a people-centered, forward-looking plan.
A Decisive Step Towards Sustainable Growth
With contributions from a diverse range of actors, the workshop marked a critical step towards finalising a document that will guide investments, development initiatives, and long-term planning in the North-West Region.
Participants left the session with renewed determination to deliver a plan that reflects the collective vision of the people, ensuring that the region’s growth is both inclusive and sustainable.
