PM Dion Ngute Inaugurates Bipindi–Grand Zambi Iron Ore Project and Lays Foundation Stone for Mineral Terminal in Kribi

The seaside towns of Bipindi, Grand Zambi, and Kribi were the stage for historic moments today as Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, acting as the personal representative of the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, presided over two landmark ceremonies marking major strides in Cameroon’s New Deal agenda.

Bipindi–Grand Zambi: A New Era for Mining

The day began in Bipindi–Grand Zambi, where the Prime Minister was warmly received by massive crowds, including supporters of the ruling CPDM party, who turned out in large numbers to celebrate what they hailed as a significant achievement for Cameroon’s mining sector.

The inaugural ceremony of the Bipindi–Grand Zambi Iron Ore Project was colourful and highly symbolic. It marked the launch of one of the most ambitious projects in Cameroon’s extractive industries, expected to create jobs, boost regional economies, and position the country as a strong player in the global iron ore market.

Kribi: Foundation Stone for Mineral Terminal

Later in the day, the Prime Minister travelled to Kribi, the Ocean divisional chief town. On behalf of the Head of State, he officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new mineral terminal.

The ceremony was held in the City of the Ocean and was marked by pomp and celebration, reflecting the importance of Kribi as Cameroon’s emerging hub for port and maritime infrastructure. The mineral terminal is expected to complement the deep seaport and serve as a vital export route for the country’s mineral wealth.

Return to Yaounde with Honours

After successfully inaugurating the Bipindi–Grand Zambi iron ore project and launching the Kribi mineral terminal, Prime Minister Dion Ngute wrapped up his mission. Before departing Kribi for the nation’s political capital, Yaoundé, he was accorded special military honours, underscoring the significance of his role as the Head of State’s special envoy.

These back-to-back ceremonies highlight Cameroon’s commitment to industrial expansion, resource development, and economic diversification. They also signal a renewed drive under President Paul Biya’s leadership to strengthen Cameroon’s place in regional and global markets.
